Absolute Value

Absolute value is the counting value of a number, without thinking of the positive or negative sign.

Absolute value of +3 is 3.  Absolute value of a -3 is 3.  I have disregarded the positive or negative sign.

Absolute value is represented by two bars. |-3| is 3.   the Absolute value of |3| is 3.

The only trick is this:  If there is a sign in front of the absolute value bars, use must carry the sign to your final value.

That means -|-3| is equal to a positve 3, but I must carry the negative sign, so it becomes -3.
